Split grocery receipts without the argument.

Paste your receipt, tag each item as shared or personal, and see exactly what each person owes. Tax and tip are divided proportionally, so the math stays fair.

    Walkthrough: a shared grocery trip

Three roommates shop together on Sunday. They buy shared staples for the kitchen, plus a few personal treats. Here is how the split works.

    1. Enter the household. Alex, Jordan, and Sam share Apartment 4B. Shared items are split three ways.
    2. Add the receipt lines. They enter each item: eggs, olive oil, and paper towels as shared. Jordan's protein bars and Sam's hot sauce go to their own names.
    3. Set tax and tip. Their store receipt shows 7.25% tax. They leave a $3 tip for the delivery driver.
    4. Read the totals. Tax is divided by item price, so the $12 olive oil carries more tax than the $2 eggs. The tip follows the same rule. Each person sees their own share.

    Common questions

What if one person paid for everything?

Enter the full receipt. The splitter shows what each person owes. The payer's total will match the receipt, and others will see their share.

Can I split an item between two people?

Add the item twice, once for each person, or mark it as shared. Shared items are split evenly among everyone in the household.

Does this work for takeout or restaurant receipts?

It works for any receipt where you want to split items and tax. Just enter each dish as a line item and tag it.

    Where is my data stored?

Everything stays in your browser. Household profiles and saved splits are stored locally on your device. Nothing is sent to a server.

What if my receipt has more than one tax rate?

This splitter uses one tax rate for the whole receipt. If your store taxes produce and snacks differently, group the lines by rate and run two splits.

    How is the tip divided?

The tip is split proportionally by item total, just like tax. If you prefer to split the tip evenly, adjust the numbers by hand after the split.

    Assumptions and common mistakes

    Assumptions

    Common mistakes

    • Forgetting to add the tip before reading totals.
    • Listing a member with a typo, which creates a new person.
